Cultural intelligence training & insights

Cross-cultural and cultural intelligence workshops, training and coaching.

Ready to take your idea “global”? Or perhaps you’re now working with an international team or reaching out to an international audience.

Let me help you develop cultural intelligence so that you can communicate clearly and effectively with multi-cultural audiences.

Learn how the stories we grow up with – those of identity, history, ideas, nationality and self – influence how we work and think, and use this knowledge to work effectively in cross-cultural environments.

If you’ve ever worked in a multi-cultural team, lived or worked abroad, or do business with people from different countries, you’ll know that not everyone views the world in the same way. This applies even when people share the same language – the Swiss Germans, Germans and Austrians have some similarities in the way they work, but they also have differences that can cause friction and communication challenges if ignored.
In English, we call this being “separated by a common language”!

The challenges can increase the more diverse the team.

To help you overcome this, I offer cultural intelligence workshops for teams and conference break-out sessions that can also include a simple online assessment, as well as talks, keynotes and 1-to-1 cultural intelligence coaching. You’ll develop a better awareness of cultural differences, and learn how to “surf the waves”, communicate better, developer stronger relationships and get more done.

Our cultural intelligence workshops talks and coaching programmes are offered exclusively in English. This is not because we’re arrogant English speakers, but rather because English is often the common language used when groups of people from different cultures get together to work or engage.

We use a form of global English to ensure maximum understanding and learning, and teach you how to use global English techniques when communicating across cultures in English.

Why choose to work with me?

I’m South African born and bred and since 1997, I’ve had the great fortune to have settled and worked in 6 countries across 4 countries. Over the years, I’ve managed large, distributed teams comprising people from all over the world. I’ve managed employees and worked with partners and clients from dozens of countries. I know the benefits of understanding culture both from the perspective of a “local” and from the perspective of  a “foreigner”.

I’ve spent thousands of hours researching cross-cultural communication, participating in training programmes, attending conferences, and developing coaching skills to improve my cross-cultural skills and to teach others.

In 2010,  I was approached to deliver a cross-cultural programme for a US oil company delivering a project in Mozambique. Then I was asked to help prepare a manager and his family moving to Bahrain. Then for another family moving to Japan. I was invited to speak about cultural awareness at Lions and Rotary meetings. It felt that people needed support in this area, so I started offering cross-cultural programmes as part of my communication skills company, and the rest is history.
